Mothers from the village of Deberha in Ngcobo, who run the Siyakhana Project, say support from local schools has given them renewed hope for the future. The women sustain themselves through weaving and rely heavily on the community’s involvement.

One of the members, Nosimo Tume, said they decided to start the project when they were unemployed, “We see a very big difference because schools are supporting us, and we really appreciate it. We are looking forward to getting more support, and we request a proper place to “she said.
The group has appealed to other schools to join in supporting them, explaining that weaving is their only means of putting food on the table. They added that the help they have already received has made a significant impact on their lives.
